Streamlining Smiles: The Distinct Advantages of Same-Day Crowns

We know visiting the dentist isn’t typically something folks love to do. However, the connection between oral health and overall health is well documented, which really highlights the importance of maintaining a healthy smile. At Houston Dentists at Post Oak, we strive to make every visit as peaceful and efficient as possible. As such, Dr. Pigneri and his team are proud to offer patients same-day crowns, eliminating the need for multiple visits. Dr. Pigneri emphasizes that “the benefits of same-day crowns are immense.” Patients no longer need to endure the inconvenience of multiple appointments spread over several weeks.

With same-day crowns, the entire process – from digital impressions to crown placement – can be completed in a single visit, making it an ideal option for individuals with busy schedules. Take control of your oral health with our in-office services!

When considering if same-day dental crowns are the right fit for you, it is good to know that dental crowns are commonly applied to:

  • Repair. Chipped, cracked, and decayed teeth can be repaired by restoring the damaged tooth with a porcelain dental crown.
  • Restore. Misshapen, discolored, and stained teeth can be restored with same-day dental crowns for a brilliant and symmetrical smile.
  • Reinforce. Teeth that have undergone root canals or have been otherwise weakened can be reinforced with dental crowns.
  • Replace. Implants restored with crowns and bridges may be included to replace missing teeth for support and appearance. However, please note that crowns for implants and bridges are fabricated offsite, requiring a second visit.

The process of obtaining same-day crowns begins with a consultation, and then a mapping of the teeth through digital impressions. As patient comfort is a top priority for Houston Dentists at Post Oak, instead of the uncomfortable traditional molds, we use a digital scanner to create a precise impression of the patient’s teeth. The scans will then be archived for later reference.

Once the digital impression is obtained, our team will begin the fabrication process with our on-site milling machine! Each fabrication is fully customized to match the patient’s natural teeth in terms of shape, size, and color. This level of customization allows for a seamless integration of the crown into the patient’s smile, enhancing both functionality and aesthetics.

As the entire process is completed in one visit, a distinct advantage of same-day crowns is the elimination of temporary crowns. Traditional crown procedures often involve the placement of temporary crowns while the permanent ones are being fabricated. These temporaries may be uncomfortable, prone to damage, and aesthetically subpar. With same-day crowns, patients avoid the hassle of temporary restorations altogether.

Same-day crowns are a remarkable evolution in dental care and a stunning solution to enhancing your smile. At  Houston Dentists at Post Oak, our goal is to make your next dental visit an enjoyable one that is as stress-free as possible!
